Our family has a cabin in this sweet and sleepy little town along the Oregon coastline. We have been visiting for close to 25 years and it is one of our favorite places to relax and get away from the daily grind.
Two of our most favorite people joined us this time around. We have been the best of friends with Ken and Teryl since I met and worked with Teryl in Santa Barbara, California, nearly 30 years ago.
I didn’t pick up my camera until we were several days into our vacation. Had I picked it up you would have seen photos of homemade lemon drops, a country boil dinner with fresh crab, clams, jumbo shrimp and scallops, very, very “put hair on your chest” strong coffee, lots of cards and dice games, jammies until noon, fresh shrimp cocktails from a local dive (with the hottest cocktail sauce ever made), playing smash ball on the lawn, watching a seal and a whale hanging out in the water, kayaking on the river, pretty damn good Bloody Marys with breakfast, corny movies, and lots and lots of laughs.
We are heading back to Yachats in October so I’ll have another chance to catch more.
